Dr. Amit Monga has over 20 years of investment banking, venture capital, and corporate governance experience in the technology, media, telecom, and life sciences sectors. Most recently, he was Managing Director, Technology and Innovation, Global Investment Banking, at one of Canada’s largest bank-owned investment banks.  He is an active angel investor and advisor to venture capital and PE funds, and frequently consults with public and private companies on maximizing shareholder value and adoption of disruptive technologies.

Dr. Monga serves on the boards of Infrastructure Ontario and University of Toronto Press. He has previously served on the Innovation Council at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and the boards of both the Canadian Medical Foundation and Alberta Innovates Technology Futures. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, where his research focused on solving complex reliability-based design problems using genetic algorithms. An expert in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics, his research has been published in top peer-reviewed academic journals such as Computers and Industrial Engineering, Advances in Engineering Software, Computers and Operations Research, and International Journal for Quality, Reliability and Safety Engineering.

Eric Balchunas is Senior ETF Analyst at Bloomberg. In this role he writes research, articles and feature stories about ETFs for the Bloomberg terminal and Bloomberg.com. He also appears in a weekly on-air segment for Bloomberg TV and Radio called “Exchange-Traded Friday” in which he discusses different ETFs and the way investors can utilize them.

He is the author of “The Institutional ETF Toolbox,” which was published by Wiley on March 2016. The book is at once a primer on ETFs that both novices and professionals can understand as well as a guide to doing proper due diligence on the fast-growing world of ETFs. The book is available on Amazon.com and most other places books are sold.

In addition, he is responsible for training clients and conducting seminars on how to use Bloomberg to find and analyze ETFs. He is also puts out the Bloomberg ETF Newsletter and is a regular speaker at both Bloomberg events as well as industry conferences.

Carole Piovesan – Managing partner, INQ Law

 

Carole is managing partner at INQ Law, focusing her practice on privacy, cyber readiness, data governance and artificial intelligence (AI) risk management. She regularly counsels clients on a wide range of matters related to privacy, cyber readiness and breach response, data governance, ethical AI and responsible innovation. Prior to founding INQ Law, Carole was co-lead of the national Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Management group at McCarthy Tétrault. She has represented clients before all levels of court in Ontario as well as at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Carole plays an active role in shaping data law, policy and standards in Canada and globally. She is the co-chair of the federal government’s Exposure Notification application. She also co-chairs the data governance working group for the Data Governance Standardization Collaborative at the Standards Council of Canada. She is a member of the Data Governance Working Group for the Global Partnership on AI, as well as an advisor to several AI start-ups.

In 2018, Carole was appointed by the federal Minister of Innovation to serve as one of six Digital Leaders in the national data and digital transformation consultations. In this role, she led consultations with businesses, academics, civil society and industry associations to inform the first national Digital Charter. Announced on May 21, 2019, the Digital Charter has led to significant proposed reforms to Canada’s federal private sector privacy law.

Stuart runs one of the most innovative AI companies in the world, pioneering two new classes of AI, “Behavioural AI”, and “Simulation AI”. This isn’t exactly surprising based on his history. Having studied Managerial Sciences at university, specifically the aspects of Managerial Accounting relating to Behavioural Economics, and Organisational Behaviour. Stuart went on to start an early Management Information Services company which, in the late 1980’s, ran a private network for mail and file transfer between Toronto, New York, and Mexico City. Selling that company, Stuart founded one of Canada’s first Digital Agencies – before the Internet was a household thing! That company was sold in 1999 to WPP and Stuart transitioned into Finance, creating an innovative sub-prime lender, which built a substantial automotive loan portfolio which he sold shortly before the financial crisis of 2007. After that Stuart once again got interested in Technology, and specifically the early stages of AI. Today you will find him working with some of the worlds’ largest companies, designing and implementing AI designed to change the way they understand their Big Data.

Stew is a member of ISACA, ISC2 and is ITIL certified with 25 years of IT experience of which 19 years of that was time spent in the Information Security field.  He has worked for the largest IT company in the world in both technical as well as executive consulting roles and “Big 4” consulting firms as a Management Security Strategist.  Experience includes steady-state operations, application development, pre-sales support, system engineer and consulting roles.

Stew is a member of the ISO community and participated in the development of the Cloud Security standard (ISO 27017) as well as holds a Cloud patent #US 8,868,709 B2. Current Cisco responsibilities include training Cisco sales teams on selling security services, meeting with customers to enable security strategies that result in successful business outcomes, employing advisory led and risk-focused security consulting approaches, developing and qualifying sales opportunities, tracking pipeline, achieving sales booking targets and leading proposal responses.  Stew also presents at conferences in order to increase visibility into Cisco’s Security Services approach, capabilities, and offerings.
